Billy Porter auctioned our Supernova Necklace off with all profit going to AIDS Charity! | Lark and Berry

Billy Porter auctioned our Supernova Necklace off with all profit going to AIDS Charity!

Our headline-making, 64.5 carat 18K white gold set Supernova Necklace, worn by fashion icon Billy Porter at the 2020 Oscars awards show opening, was auctioned off for charity benefiting AIDS research on Sunday night at a pre-Oscars AIDS charity event that has been going 30 years strong, held by Elton John, at West Hollywood Park in Los Angeles.

Designed by Lark & Berry, the necklace features 64.5 carats of carbon-neutral diamonds created in the high-tech labs of Diamond Foundry. The pairing of Lark & Berry’s award-winning, timeless design with Diamond Foundry’s US- made diamonds makes for the most stunning sustainable jewels currently on the market.

100% of the money from this massive sale went to the Elton John AIDS Research Foundation!

"I was amazed at the price our necklace fetched!” exclaimed our founder Laura Chavez. “I am just in awe, and I couldn’t be more thrilled that our creation was able to bring that much money for such a good cause. Our whole Lark & Berry team here in London is honoured that Billy was able to send the Supernova off in such style and grace."

Billy was on hand to co-host this star-studded event with Lady Ga Ga and others. Elton John couldn't make it in person this year due to a prior concert commitment, but there was a big who's-who list of celebs on hand.

The hosts presented to nearly 800 guests, including Zooey Deschanel, Donatella Versace, Chrissy Metz, Heidi Klum, Christina Hendricks, Chris Pine, Kathy Hilton, Caitlyn Jenner, Tinx and many more. Billy was also key in aiding the actual auctioning of the Supernova necklace, which was a fitting goodbye, in a sense, as we felt like he made this very special piece his own from the moment he popped out on stage wearing it at the Oscars 2020 singing “I’m Still Standing” with Elton and others.

“When Elton throws a party, he throws a party with purpose.…I’m here for the 37 million people living with HIV, including me,” Yahoo News quoted Billy saying from the stage at the event. “I’m lucky to be living in a community that loves and supports me, but not everyone has that luxury.”

When the time came to auction our Supernova necklace, Billy was more than ready to help in the task.

“Y’all ready to bid on this bitch?” Yahoo quoted Billy as saying when showing the necklace. “You know I can’t afford it, they lent it to me. But I know you bitches out here can afford it. Get your checkbooks out, do we still say that?”

Luckily, he was right, someone could afford it, and pay big-time, they did! Thanks Billy for all you do, and in our minds, the Supernova Necklace will always be yours and yours alone.
